Dunja Lavrova (Violin)- Director and Leader of Ensemble Metamusika
Dunja Lavrova (Violin)- Director and Leader of Ensemble Metamusika
Ensemble Metamusika began its life at the Royal College of Music, where violinist Dunja Lavrova was Bachelor of Music and Master of Performance student. Whilst at the Royal College, Dunja never conformed to just one type of a chamber group and enjoyed performing in various formations, be it an all-strings group, a piano trio, or a group which involved woodwind and brass players. What was most important for her is to play with like-minded musicians who would have a similar attitude towards music-making and would not be afraid to perform more unusual programmes. As the result, her "network" of chamber music colleagues grew bigger and bigger.

Dunja Lavrova was joined by horn player Nicolas Fleury and pianist Konstantin Lapshin when all three of them were awarded the highest prizes for their achievements upon their graduation as Masters of Music and were invited to perform Brahms' Horn Trio for HRH Prince Charles. A broadcast on French national television followed, as well as an invitation to perform the trio at the highly-acclaimed International Festival of La Baule.

After those engagements were completed, Dunja decided to continue creating more exciting and unusual chamber music projects with various colleagues under the name of Ensemble Metamusika: a group which she directs and leads, a group which never stays the same and "transforms" from programme to programme, and a group which sees various distinguished musicians come and go and then come back again. Ensemble Metamusika has been involved in various projects as a piano trio and string quartet and has also frequently reformed as a horn trio with Nicolas Fleury. Aside of performances at concert halls and festivals, the Ensemble has been involved in Education and Outreach projects as well as working on more unusual visual and dance collaborations.

Ensemble Metamusika is something like a “fellowship" of well-established musicians: united by a passion for music and the way they bring their musical ideas to life in order to achieve something truly unique.
Among them, there are competition winners, established soloists and members of various leading UK orchestras, who have all performed with each other at various venues around the world or collaborated on other projects.
